Happy Wednesday folks (are Wednesdays ever really happy?!). Dave here with an update all about the cover for Bust 2: Wasteland Ronin. You might have seen on our Kickstarter campaign page that we’re funding towards our second stretch goal, which is to get Scottish artist Craig Paton back to do cover art for the issue.

Who’s Craig Paton? Well, he’s an incredibly talented artist for hire who deserves all your money. No really, just check out his great portfolio of work over at his personal site.

He’s also responsible for our first issue’s incredible cover:

We hope you'll agree it looks bloody brilliant!

If our Kickstarter funding manages to hit £1,800, we’ll be able to get Craig back to create a cover for Bust 2: Wasteland Ronin.

He’s already started some early concepts including our new character Lily and an older Jack, just in case we hit our goal:

It's still just a concept at this stage - what do you think?

I thought I’d give Craig a chance to talk you through his process for creating the cover for Bust: Issue #1 and show you some early concepts and designs so you can see how he got to the final cover art.

Here we go:

Craig: “I wanted to create some cover art which would reflect the gritty, monochromatic violence of Bust’s story.  The scene where Jack is fighting zombies bare-handed stood out to me as very cool, and unique about Bust, it was that part which inspired the battle-weary Jack of the cover image.”

“Reading Bust often put me in mind of The Walking Dead, Fight Club, and the comics work of Katsuhiro Otomo. These would become the main influences on the direction of the cover art. Bust 2 is a much bigger story than the first, both in scope and amount of focus characters.”

“I’ll have to come up with cover art which represents this more epic scale. Bust 2 is a much bigger story than the first, both in scope and amount of focus characters. I’ll have to come up with cover art which represents this more epic scale.”

Bust 2 sure is epic, and we can’t wait to get it into your hands after this Kickstarter closes. if you would like to help us fund Craig’s return as cover artist, please back our campaign here.

Thanks again for your support guys!
