Bust 2: Wasteland Ronin comic preview

Good evening everyone, I hope your weeks are off to a flying start I’ve just had a big Bust writing session and I’m pleased to say that I’ve now done up to page nine of the issue – and without a single text box, narrative voice or captioned exposition. When I mentioned in the previous update that issue #1 did so to quickly set the world state and tone, I wasn’t kidding. WARNING! MASSIVE TEASING REDACTIONS INCOMING! (SORRY!) sorry… I’m very happy with how the issue is going so far. It’s slower to allow for greater character development and I’ve already introduced three new major characters, with four returning faces for familiarity’s sake. There’s even a singing number in there too… In issue #1 news, Chris is working on page 16 now, so expect some updates on that soon. It’s also been a while since we’ve seen some new custom backer sketches, but rest assured they will come in time. We just need to focus on hammering out a few more comic pages before we can get to the next round of extras. We will always keep you posted on rewards and more Lastly: I hope to order a printed sample of pages 1-16 soon from two printing houses to try out paper quality and so forth, just to make a final call on which company we use for...

A note about comic captions & issue #2 update

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve been having an ace weekend. I thought I’d post a little note about captions, because I’m aware that issue #1 has a lot of them. Most pages have Jack telling the story of his arrival in Austin and his downfall at the hands of Eddie Scott. That also means that each page is full of exposition, and I’m aware that not everyone enjoys that approach to story-telling. I’m keen to explain why this is the case and stress that all issues after the first don’t have captions at all – except lines like ‘xx days later…’ and so on. The caption approach is two-fold: First, it allows us to quickly set a world state and put across the fundamentals of who Jack, his family and Eddie are. I have already started writing flashbacks in issue #2 that expand on the events of the first issue and lend new weight to the characters. Plus, we have consider who he’s telling his story *to*. That’s important. And second, money and time are against us. This is one setback of being fully selfsufficient, as we only have the capacity to do so many pages independently. If we were being published by a big comic house we could dwell on the settings and characters longer, but truth be told I’d...

Read page 15 of the comic here!

Hi guys, I hope you’re all having a superb week so far. Chris has sent me over page 15 of Bust, which you can now read over on the blog. This page introduces two new characters into the mix – both of which will prove life-changingly important to Jack. You might say that this page marks a key turning point in our story. Also, Kickstarter transferred our funds last night and after fees and a few failed payments we ended up with £1394, which still covers both print runs, posters and art fees – so I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to everyone who contributed to the project so far. It means so much to us. Thanks, and stay tuned for more updates soon!...

Looking for comic shops

Hello folks, I hope you’re all having a great week so far. I thought I’d post a new update before page 15 is revealed, and I’ve started researching indie comic shops up and down the UK so once our second print batch is made in April, we can look at selling a few in stores to hopefully drum up some cash for issue #2. So if you have an indie comic store near you and you think they might like to consider Bust, please do hit me up and I can add them to my contact list. Thanks again for your support guys....

Monday update on new pages + launch

Happy Monday everyone! We’re still waiting for our Kickstarter funds to clear then come through before we power on with the issue, and we’re told it should be some time this week. In the meantime I’ve been writing issue #2: ‘Wasteland Ronin’ and I’m now five pages in. There’s a rather epic, bold intro that I don’t think anyone will guess ahead of time, so it’ll be interesting to see how it’s received. I’ve also started researching indie comic shops here in the UK as places we can sell the first issue, along with online outlets – Kindle/ComiXology – and conventions like MCM and Glasgow ComicCon. So if there’s a comic shop near you please do let us know and we can add it to our list. Thanks again guys, have a great week....
